Brief info
I’m a video editor and producer from Italy, and I moved to Belfast a couple of years ago after living in London and Rome. I immediately fell in love with Belfast for its – unexpected – ability to bring people together.
When I heard about Voicing the Void, I was thrilled to have the chance to use my craft to help bring out stories that might otherwise go untold, or be told unfairly. None of us is immune to desensitisation or generalisation. It’s so easy to dehumanise people under a label, and it often happens because we haven’t had the chance to see the real people behind the statistics.
Not realising that “the other” is just as human as we are is what creates space for hate or indifference. We become disconnected simply because we don’t know each other.
For me, shining a light on the personal stories of people who haven’t had the chance to show who they truly are is a precious privilege. I’m grateful to be able to make even a small contribution to such an important mission.
